  • This unique in-depth tea tasting session explores the myriad colours and flavours of the world’s most popular beverage. The tasting focuses on a selection of speciality teas of the nilgiris.
  • This is then followed by a 7 course tea menu lunch at tea nest, the tea lunch is a unique meal created by our master chefs. Every course is flavoured with some element of tea. For example, the main course in the vegetarian tea menu is tea braised spaghettetti aglio e olio – paired with frost tea

Heritage train

Guests board the train in the evening at Coonoor and alight at Mettupalayam. From here vehicle will drive guests back to the Sleeping Beauty resort.

Time

Depart from the property at 2.30 pm
The train leaves Coonoor at 3.00 pm
It reaches Mettupalayam at 5.35 pm
From here a car/vehicle will drive you back to the resort

Cost

1st Class Rs 600 per head 2nd Class Rs 300 per head

NOTE : The train tickets may be purchased online on the link https://www.irctc.co.in or else the guest may reach 1 hour prior to the Train departure and there is good chance of getting the tickets.

Natures Filmy Chakkar

Re-visit some of your favourite silver screen cameo. Take a film tour of Ooty or the Filmy Chakkar as it is popularly known. The tour is sprinkled with star dust and is one of the best ways to experience the magic of Ooty. From Shah Rukh’s iconic chaiyyachaiyya on the roof of a toy train to kabootarja from MainePyarKiya which was shot inOoty’s botanical garden to the Shimla summer camp from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai that was filmed on Ooty’s Wenlock Downs… here’s your chance to role play being a star yourself.

A half day tour takes in soaring pine forests, gushing waterfalls, Kamraj and Pykara Dams, boating, and the golf course links at the gymkhana club Ooty. The delectable finale is an a la carte lunch at Willow Hill or Rosewood by Nature Resorts. Lunch is on a chargeable basis.

The charms of coonoor

Popular must-see sights here are

Lamb’s rock

The rock is named after captain lamb who walked an extra mile to literally create a path to this spot, some 6 km from coonoor. This popular picnic spot has a breathtaking view of the yawning burliar ravine in the valley below.

Dolphin’s nose

A unique rock of enormous proportion that resembles a dolphin’s nose; and hence the name. The outcrop, about 12 km from coonoor, offers a panoramic view of tea estates and thundering waterfalls.

Sim’s park

A botanical garden that is located in the upper part of this hill station on the kotagiri road. The garden was named in honour of j.d. sim who created the park in the 1870s.

The park is open from 8 am to 6 pm and charges an entrance fee of Rs 20 per adult and Rs 10 per child.

Green shop

The shop, located in coonoor, sells organic products made by local tribes like the kurumbas. These include eucalyptus oil, ginger honey, organic spices, organic cosmetic products, wooden toys, shawls, bags etc. The products you get here are not available anywhere else and are all locally produced.

Here you get to see the entire tea making process with all the detailing that goes into it.

Every person on the factory tour must buy a 250 gm packet of tea for Rs 100.

Cost: In addition to the vehicle charge of Rs 1,080 (non a/c indica – 4 to a car) there is a nominal entrance fee to sim’s park and an expense of Rs 100 per person at the tea factory for which guests receive a 250 gm packet of tea in return.
