Located in the off-grid hamlet of Mavanalla, 5.5 km from the charming town of Masinagudi and 25 km from Ooty, Wild Pastures is enveloped in a haze of green imparted by the Mudumalai Tiger Reserve nearby. Come morning, and you step outside your two-room cottage with its sloping, tiered green roof and wraparound balcony, and you may well spot high-stepping deer in the grassland beyond. (Indeed our two rooms are aptly named Chital and Sambar as these graceful deer often graze at night near the porch of our bungalow.) Colourfully plumed birds sing joyously in the thick canopy of trees above and langurs peer down curiously at visitors who invade their domain.
Each room is tastefully furnished with subtle colonial touches and has a double bed and period furniture.
